Noah started his day at 5:30am, when he threw up on the floor next to his bed. He’s still feeling nauseous and has no energy. He was able to complete his daily task but took a very long nap. He hasn’t had an appetite all day.
Noah’s blood levels are listed on the bottom of every post. His absolute neutrophil count has been 0 for 6 days. His white blood cells have been at 0.1 for 8 days.
The absolute neutrophil count (ANC) is the total number of neutrophils (segmented neutrophils plus band forms of neutrophils) you have to fight a bacterial or fungal infection. A normal ANC is greater than 1,500. When you have low white blood cell (neutrophil) counts, you’re at risk of infection. Neutrophils are a very important defense against most types of infection.
We’re hoping for Noah’s numbers to increase when he starts engraftment. When his numbers start to increasing, his risk for infection will decrease and his body will start producing blood on his own.
Lucas is healing well and is still very active. Lucas will return to school tomorrow. Lucas and Aryana are waiting for Bo Bo to come home and miss him very much.
